Description

Learn traditional techniques of Kashoku, ways of decorating lacquerware handed down in Kyoto. Iroetsuke is a technique of painting pictures with colored Urushi lacquer.

It is very difficult to handle genuine lacquer unless you are a professional artisan. Instead, we will use a synthetic lacquer for business use to make and paint pictures on small articles.

There are many techniques to decorate lacquerware. Iroetsuke is a technique for making pictures using colored lacquer. In this lesson, you can paint pictures using 6 colors and by tracing over transcribed sketches. After finishing, you can take your finished product home with you.
