The word rickshaw originates from the Japanese word “jinrikisha”, which means “human-powered vehicle”. They first appeared in Japan in the late 19th century. In modern day Japan, Ebisuya's “shafu” (rickshaw drivers) provide “omotenashi,” a distinctly Japanese form of hospitality. Choose the private tour that fits your needs, from 12 to 120 minutes, which each driver will customize to best fit the season, weather and your interests. Climb aboard the luxurious rickshaws and move deftly through the area around Ginkakuji temple, known as the "Silver Pavilion".

Restrictions
- The maximum capacity for a jinrikisha is two passengers. When making reservations for 3 or 4 passengers, two jinrikisha will be required. Each jinrikisha will be driven/guided by a different Shafu (Driver/Guide).
Additional Notes
- Due to the nature of the vehicle, jinrikisha tend to be a little bumpy/shaky. Though all drivers take the highest precautions for your safety, please note that there may be unexpected bumps during the ride (drivers will try to inform passengers in advance of large bumps that they are aware of). Please consult us in advance if any passengers are pregnant or have medical conditions that should be noted.
- Charter price does not include entrance fees and other admission fees to temples and tour destinations.
