Description

Spend an afternoon visiting Nara’s most beautiful sights such as the Kasuga Shrine and Todaiji Temple's giant Buddha while mingling with Nara’s famous deer. A visit to the "must-see" Todaiji Temple is first up on this afternoon tour to scenic Nara. Todaiji is the world’s largest wooden building, and houses a 15m bronze Buddha, the largest in Japan. After seeing Todaiji Temple, head to Nara Park to soak in the beauty of park and mingle with the city’s most famous inhabitants, the deer! They are considered messengers to the gods of nearby Kasuga Taisha Shrine, decorated with a myriad of bronze and stone lanterns.

  • Any cancellations made between 2 business days (18:00 local time) to 1 business days (18:00 local time) prior to the activity will be subject to a charge of 40% of the total amount.
  • Any cancellations made between 1 business days (18:00 local time) to 1 hours prior to the activity start time will be subject to a charge of 50% of the total amount.
  • Any cancellations made after 1 hours prior to the activity will be subject to a charge of 100% of the total amount.

Restrictions

  • Children (ages 0-5 years) will be able to participate for free under the following conditions. Tour: An individual seat will not be provided. Please have them sit on the lap of their parent or guardian. If there are seats available, they are welcome to use it, however they will not be getting a priority in seating. If you would like a seat for a child (ages 0-5 years), please book them as a child.
  • Participants will walk from the parking lot to Todai-ji Temple (about 15 min one-way). Please inform us at the time of booking if any person in your group is using crutches or a wheelchair, or has a chronic illness that makes it difficult to walk for long distances.

Additional Notes

  • At Kasuga Taisha Shrine, the tour will not enter areas requiring admission.
  • The tour may not visit Nara Nagomikan if it is closed or if traffic conditions make the visit difficult.
  • Public transportation will be used for the trips between Osaka and Kyoto, and Nara and Osaka. Please note that seating is not guaranteed.
  • The activity schedule is subject to change or cancellation due to weather or traffic conditions.
  • For round-trip bookings from Osaka, travel from Nara to Osaka will be by public transportation. Please be aware that customers may not board the bus returning to Kyoto.

Todaiji Temple and Nara Park
Todaiji is a World Cultural Heritage Site, home to the largest bronze Buddha statue in the world and housed by the largest wooden building in Japan. Nara Park is a place of scenic beauty, there are over 1,200 deer roaming freely throughout the park.

Kasuga Taisha Shrine
This historical Shinto shrine dates back to 768 and is known for its numerous bronze and stone lanterns on the grounds. The deer of Nara Park are thought to be the shrine messengers. Please note that the tour will not enter areas requiring admission.

Walk around Nara Nagomikan looking for the perfect Japanese crafts, goods, and souvenirs! Please note that this spot may be omitted from the itinerary if the facility is closed, or as a result of traffic congestion.
